Founder/Executive Director
Mary Borkovitz is a 1954 graduate of New York University with a B.S. in Music Education.  She  has  taught instrumental music in the Westbury Public School District on Long Island and the Greenburgh Public School District in Westchester New York.  In 1970, due to a career move for her husband, Mary moved to Yardley, Pennsylvania and retired from teaching to raise a family.

During the 70’s Mary volunteered in several capacities; serving on the Park and Recreation Board of Lower Makefield township; becoming a Girl Scout leader for the local Girl Scout Troup and teaching music in the local Nursery School.  Then in 1978, when a Community Room was built on to the local Township Building, Mary started a concert series by founding the Lower Makefield Society for the Performing Arts.  While developing this program as a volunteer, she worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Psychology Department of Trenton State College, Mobil Oil Corporation and in the Provost’s Office of Princeton University.

Now celebrating its 32nd anniversary season, the Lower Makefield Society for the Performing Arts has become the Bucks County Performing Arts Center, to better represent the expansion of its programming into all of Bucks County.  Mary continues to be its Executive Director.
