NANCY BEAN, violinist
and
LLOYD SMITH, violoncellist
were both members of the Philadelphia Orchestra for many years. Now retired, they are spending their time performing chamber music. Nancy is founder (in 1987) and first violinist of Wister Quartet and Artistic Director of the Philadelphia-based 1807 & Friends chamber ensemble. She has performed in chamber concerts with Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, Alicia de Larrocha, Radu Lupu, Garrick Ohlsson, Wolfgang Sawallisch, and Yo-Yo Ma. Lloyd is also a member of the Wister Quartet and 1807 & Friends. After retiring from being its acting associate principal cellist with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2003, he is now devoting himself to chamber music and composing.
ANNE SULLIVAN
began her career as a concert harpist at age twelve when she appeared twice as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. A native of the Philadelphia area and a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, she is in demand as a recitalist, chamber musician and symphonic soloist.
